The following areas experienced major enhancements:

• File sharing and Directory Services: Improvements for AFP (Mac OS), NFS (UNIX), PPTP and wireless networks
• OpenGL: Updated ATI and NVIDIA graphics drivers
• Disc burning: The recording functionality has been improved
• iPod: iPods connected via USB 2.0 are now correctly recognised by iTunes and iSync
• FireWire audio and USB: Additional compatibilities
• Applications: Address Book, Mail, Safari, Stickies and QuickTime were updated, and compatibility for third party applications were improved
• Security Updates: Except for Security Update 2004-05-24, all previously released security updates (as standalone update) are included

Mac OS X 10.3.4 is available as both a direct update and a "combo" update.

Mac OS X 10.3, 10.3.1 and 10.3.2 users must use the combo update. Mac OS X 10.3.3 users can choose between a lighter direct update and a heavier combo update.

The direct update is - MB in size; the combo update is - MB in size.
